If our offense wouldn't have sucked........
We would have been talking about the great pitching this team has gotten since the Dodger Finale. Here are the numbers:
Arroyo: 7ip, 5h, 1er Cueto: 5.2ip, 4h, 1er Lecure: 6ip, 8h, 5er (he was pretty good all but the last inning he worked) Harang: 6ip, 3h, 1er Leak: 6ip, 5h, 1er Not too shabby. I know it was against bad competition, but hey good pitching is good pitching. Just goes to show you that if our hitting had been there we would be 3 games up in the standings right now. |

The Reds last 8 games on offense
76 strike outs 15 walks .208 BA .252 OBP .332 Slugging 19 Runs scored Thats so terrible its really really scary. 9.5 strike outs per game EEK. thats with 6 runs in last nights game. Less than 2 runs per game prior to that, now only 2.4 per game counting it. Talk about a slump. |

Would be interesting to compare those woeful hitting stats to the scoreless streak the Phillies ran up there a couple weeks ago. They have a stacked lineup, and to get shutout like they did was pretty amazing too.

See nobody can focus on how great the pitching actually was. Heck our bullpen was even good until the Cordero episode last night. The team basically reverted back to last year's habits for a week. Lets hope it doesn't happen again.
