Re: Cliff Lee
What Lee did for Philly was nothing short of amazing. If the Reds can get that from him then they have a real shot at going to the Series. I would easily give them Wood and Meseraco for him. That's not even a hard choice. I would also love Haren, Oswalt, or any other guy of that ilk. The Reds could use another bat too. Like I said earlier, Haren is the guy to get as far as the contract goes. I would give up a couple more guys to get him.

Re: Cliff Lee
I might be as guilty as the next guy, worrying about teams doing to Lee at GAB what he escaped from the Reds in Safeco, but the Reds mashers are mashing balls, like last night when Nieves was lucky to escape without giving back to back to back to back jacks because he was pitching at Citifield. I might be giving too much weight to the assumption that the Reds hammered him but for the big ballpark, which is certainly debatable.
Plus, we play more road than home the 2nd half...why not? Of the prospects named so far, only Heisey is the name I'd rather hold onto and throw in an arm instead.

Re: Cliff Lee
Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia is every bit the hitters park that Great American Ballpark is. Here's what Cliff Lee did in Citizens Bank Park last season: 35.2 IP, 31 H, 4 HR, 5 BB, 40 K, 2.52 ERA. Plus he made three playoff starts at home: 24 IP, 16 H, 0 HR, 3 BB, 18 K, 2.25 ERA
I think he can pitch effectively in any ballpark.

Re: Cliff Lee
Adding Juan Francisco to a deal for Cliff Lee, if that gets it done, is a no-brainer to me. Juan Francisco has a ways to go before he's anything more than a hacker with the occasional awe-inspiring blast.
Attrition is really catching up to The Reds pitching staff. They need to do something very soon to avoid this promising season slipping away. |

From Buster Olney:
Heard this: The Lee trade talks are "heating up" according to a source, with some teams interested in adding the lefty ASAP. http://twitter.com/Buster_ESPN

Re: Cliff Lee
Alonso was drafted to be traded for a blue chip.
Wood would be replaced by, uh, Cliff Lee the Aroldis Chapman. Not too shabby. Francisco, IMO, is always going to be trade bait, as his power is wanted by someone. Alonso and Wood is ideal, but I would have 0 problem throwing Francisco in.

Re: Cliff Lee
Buster Olney just repeated on Baseball Tonight what he reported on twitter - talks for Cliff Lee are heating up and the Reds are one of the teams involved.

Re: Cliff Lee
Please let him become a Red!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think this is the missing piece for the team that would put them over the edge.
