Jim Hearn pitched a no-hitter for 8.1 innings, and finished with a one-hit shutout to get the win for the Giants. The only hit for the Reds was a pinch-hit single by Chuck Harmon with one out in the ninth inning. Joe Nuxhall pitched a complete-game six-hitter in a losing effort for the Reds.
