Rolen to return in Milwaukee

John Fay johnfayman

Rolen: "It's better. I'm going to try to be in the lineup in Milwaukee." Tomorrow? "I'm not writing the lineup, but sometime in Milwaukee."

Re: Rolen to return in Milwaukee

That is wonderful news. But on the same note, I think we need to make sure Rolen is 100%. I don't want to rush him back.

How many days has he been out now? Feels great to know that this team has survived extended absences from both Votto and Rolen.

Long enough for us to have DL'ed him at this point it seems like.

Precisely. It was foolhardy not to. And what if he tweaks it when he does limp back, only 3-4 days before he would have been eligible to from the 15-day DL?

I think all the hype about the team's dependence on Rolen is partly to blame for the FO's reluctance to DL him.

Re: Rolen to return in Milwaukee

I think management was hoping for a Kirk Gibson moment where Rolen limps off the bench, hits a game winning walk off home run, and trots around the bases while pumping his arm into his side.

If this doesn't scare the hell out of you, then you need help. "It's better"? What the hell does that mean? I want to hear..."It's healed, I feel no pain or discomfort". "I'm going to try"?

People this has disaster written all over it.:thumbdown

If this was any other team, with any other team doctor I might agree, but it's the Reds and our team doctor is an idiot and I just don't trust them...

that's understandable. i don't think it's a big deal at all, but with rolen's injury history, it could certainly take a turn for the worse

It's a good move. B Phil bats .321 in the 2 hole, and .248 at leadoff.

Cabrera is also much batter in the 2 hole than in the leading off.
