He's gotta get hot sometime. (Is it a lefty throwing against them?) What surprises me about the Bats' lineup is that Valaika has been hitting around .300 all year and, with so many guys slumping for so long, has never really gotten a shot at the top of the order. You figure a lot of that stuff must come from the organization. At any rate, I'm not gonna complain about Rick Sweet. I think he's a terrific manager.

Dickerson is definitely ready to be called out as he runs himself into another out. I think he did anyway. He reached first on catcher's interference. Stole second but then somehow was out at third. Recap is not real clear on that. In any case that is the third time in the last two games Dickerson has been erased on the basepaths. Maloney has pitched two scoreless frames so far, giving up one hit and striking out two. No score after an inning and a half.

Juan Francisco with a seven pitch K. It looks like he definitely fouled off ball four with the count full. He did take three pitches out of the zone for balls.

Balentien with a two-out single.
Sutton Ks. The Charlotte pitcher with 3 Ks in the inning.

Five-pitch AB for Francisco. He took the first four pitches. Two out of the zone for balls and two in the zone for strikes. He grounded out on the fifth pitch, which was in the strike zone. No score after four.

Lynchburg gives up a run in the bottom of the second to halve their lead to 2-1. In the top of the third they break out the heavy lumber as Puckett, Soto and Richburg all go yard. Lynchburg leads 6-1.

1-2-3 fifth for Maloney. He does throw a lot of pitches though. 85 pitches through 5 and he hasn't walked anyone and given up just 2 hits. 17 batters. Five pitches a batter.

Valaika draws a two-out walk. Miller up. Both Miller and Dickerson have reached on Catcher's Interference tonight. That is unusual.
