Stephenson showing some uncharacteristic wildness. He gives up a single, a stolen base and two wild pitches in the first. Dragons trail 1-0 early. Dickinson, Waldrop and Silva have all singled. Stephenson has struck out two in his one inning of work.

Re: Monday August 6 Minor League Updates

Slidin' Billy w/ 2 BB's thus far (only in the top of the 2nd) and got caught stealing 2B the first time and induced a balk the 2nd time. Nice start.

Really loving this kid's approach at the plate: Get on base as often as possible!

eta: just stole 3B, obviously.

Re: Monday August 6 Minor League Updates

As lackluster and uninteresting as Louisville has been this year, the top four hitters in tonight's lineup are all decent to good prospects: Gregorius, H. Rodriguez, Phipps and Soto.

That said, Willie Harris had three hits tonight (including a HR) and Corky had two (2-2) as the Bats won 4-2. Tim Gustafson pitched well and Jordan Smith got the save. Will Ohman hasn't been particularly good so far.

Winker, yawn, is 3-4 tonight (.367). Vincej is 2-3 (.400). Mejias-Brean's 21-game hitting streak is in jeopardy.

Billings leads 5-2 after eight, trying to go 8-1 in the second half. Guillon: 5 IP, 2 H, 2 R, 3 BB, 5 K. Adames: 2.1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 2 K.

Amir Garrett: 3 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 BB, 1 K. Not bad.

AZL Reds lead 2-1 after six.

Phipps is not anywhere close to a prospect.

Re: Monday August 6 Minor League Updates

Every top pitching prospect in the system went tonight except for Cingrani and Lotzkar. I'd like to see Guillon get some reps in Dayton before the year is out.

Watched his outing last night. He had trouble getting the ball down, and he did not throw secondary stuff for strikes all that often. But he's got good velo, obviously, and his fastball has strong tail on it. If he can get it down consistently, he'll be nasty. Secondary stuff looks decent -- just a matter of refining command. Definitely liked what I saw, though I wouldn't say he's an obvious ace in the making. He could get there in time, we'll see.

He is 26, in AAA and not hitting his body weight. I would feel pretty comfortable saying he isn't much of a prospect.
