Fed-Up Flight Attendant Makes Sliding Exit

I think somebody had all they could take and snapped...

I saw that yesterday. What's really funny is ABC World News Tonight ran a story Sunday night about how JetBlue has been hiring more qualified flight attendants.

I love that he grabbed two beers on his way out. I would have taken more than two though.

I just flew this summer ... so many people who fly are stubborn and poorly behaved on flights. I don't blame any of these folks for snapping. He really went in style, though. Two beers and the emergency slide!

That's how I want to go out! Sure, this guy could've been more professional but I don't know how ANYONE could be a flight attendant for 28 years and still retain 100% sanity.

The flight attendant gig isn't too bad. I have a relative who flies for AA and the only job I can think of that gets more time off are teachers. She only has to fly about 70 hrs a month and if she decides to fly more she gets paid more. The benefits are huge. She gets 1000s of dollars in benefits. When you stay overnight somewhere they put you up in a decent hotel in a private room with meal money. She and her boyfriend flew for free to Hawaii this Spring. Less than a year ago they went to Europe. Add on health and retirement plus the fact that when you're off, you're off and it's a pretty low stress thing. You don't see much turnover with FAs. Once these folks get in they don't want to give it up.

The difference between AA and JetBlue is probably "union"

So the new term is "going flight attendant" to replace "going postal?"

I fly a bit and its insane how there is always a few people who refuse to follow simple instructions. I couldn't be a FA and deal with that every day.

Sit down.
Fasten your seatbelt.
Wait for the seatbelt signal to turn off before getting up.
etc.

This. I've been working retail for the past six months. Every day you get these people who believe themselves to be the exception to the rule.

I had a guy today actually get into an argument with me over our 90 day return policy. His purchase date? January 19th, 2009.

Sadly, there are no beers located near our emergency exits.

I wish there was an emergency slide on the Sun Deck sometimes.
