Best Reds play of 2010 thus far?
With everyone giddy about the back to back sweeps, I'd thought we'd go back to some of the better times this year. What is your favorite Reds play or moment from this year? Provide a link to the video if at all possible.
As for me, my favorite play is the collision Brandon Phillips had at home plate to knock the ball out of Nationals' catcher Wil Nieves's glove. He went on to score followed by a chest pound (which I 100% support as I don't feel he was showing up the catcher). If you remember, this was a huge play in the Top of the 8th that put the Reds up 4-1 and really put the game out of reach. Phillips would go on to get beaned his next at bat. http://mlb.mlb.com/video/play.jsp?af...ent_id=8722943 |

This is when I feel like this team turned a corner and started believing in themselves. |

I don't know if I can pick one play, but if I have a favorite game it's probably this one
http://mlb.mlb.com/video/play.jsp?content_id=8115467 I can't decide between Votto hitting it onto the boat, Phillips' great play to end the top of the 9th, or Rolen's PH game tying HR. I remember Redszone was alive for this one! |

This is why I miss Thom Brenneman in the booth.
He does a great job of capturing the moment. Not sure if it's the best play of the year or not, but the Jay Bruce three run home run off the Phillies was pretty clutch. |

I agree as well, I was at that game, and it was more exciting to me than a walkoff HR even. It was the Civil Rights game so it was on a big stage, in a big series, against a division rival, and a top defensive play to end a game was just amazing. Heisey made another great one to save the game this year in the Atlanta series, but they ended up losing anyway.

The best play - Joey Votto ties the game against Philadephia. - http://mlb.mlb.com/video/play.jsp?co...me_pk%3D264958
The most important play - Ramon Hernandez hits a homer in the 10th against the A's - http://cincinnati.reds.mlb.com/news/...=.jsp&c_id=cin My reasoning about the Ramon homerun in Oakland is that the Reds had just come off a bad trip to Seattle. They were like 1-6 in their last 7 at that point. They needed that game in the worst way to get back on track. This propelled them to a sweep and to take the next 5 in the row and regain first place. I think it was at this point that I said that this Reds team was different than the Reds teams of the past few seasons |

Re: Best Reds play of 2010 thus far?
It wasn't a single play, but I think the biggest game so far happened just one week ago. Coming off a three-game embarrassment at the hands of the Cardinals, in a series in which the team looked unprepared for the big stage, the Reds had to face arguably the best pitcher in the N.L. in Josh Johnson. Cincinnati had just dropped into second place and a fourth straight loss seemed probable. Their mojo suddenly had disappeared. What happens? Bottom of the first single Phillips, single Nix, single Votto, single Rolen and single Bruce plate three runs and the team never looks back in a 7-2 win. They haven't lost since. I would say that was a pretty strong team performance.
