Congrats to the Bats and another great year for Rick Sweet
Wow what a turnaround. It's hard to believe this team was like 11 games back a couple months ago and now is in the playoffs. Third straight playoff appearance for the Bats, and possibly third straight division title. I know what you do in minor league baseball playoffs is a little bit like petty cash or something, since their entire roster that got the wins is basically with the Reds now, but hopefully they can get past the first round this time and play for the IL title.

What a great season for the Bats. They were 9 under .500 on July 1st, and 9.5 back in the division on July 29th. They were 7.5 in the wild card at the all star break, and they gave up 7 runs in the first two innings in the first game of the second half, but Francisco hit two late game home runs, including a walk off, and they won the game. That (along with Alonso's grand slam in Durham) was the real turning point.

It was indeed a great come back from a poor 1st half of the season. But going into the season, it looked like that team was set to be a world beater. A roster full of major league arms and bats. How they fell so far back is as big a story as the come back.

By 5 PM this afternoon we should know who is playing where in the first round. The really good box seats behind the visitor's dugout in Durham are still only available by buying the entire playoff package, first and second rounds! I'm guessing they won't go to single game ticket access in that area until the day before, or the day of, the first game in Durham. That's pretty much what one of the ticket guys said earlier this week when I called.
