The triple crown includes batting average, doesn't it?

He's second in the league, camisa. He could certaily get there fairly easily.

Whoops. I thought you were saying he might win the triple crown as a Major Leaguer someday. My bad.

Oh, good God, no. Not in the major leagues. Not a chance.

Tonight Francisco went 2 for 4 with a run scored. He played 3B and both hits were singles.

His BA is now .341

Re: 2010 - 11 Winter League thread

Francisco is going to see alot of time this year at 3B in the Majors. Deeply obvious that Rolen's bat suffered after the All Star Break. I would maybe try and get 110 games out of Rolen. Sit him for all Day games and next day games after travel. Francisco's bat may be key to repeating this year.

Re: 2010 - 11 Winter League thread

Either Frazier or Francisco (or a free agent signing) will be the caddy for Rolen, certainly, and should play pretty substantially.

Personally, I'd deal both Frazier and Francisco and hope to find a corner IF/OF either in a trade or as a free agent.

Perhaps the Royals would consider dealing Alex Gordon for Maloney, Bray, and LeCure? Both starters would be better than anything not named Greinke in Royal blue and Bray would allow them a nice LH arm with plus stuff and a major league resume.

Gordon would look awfully good in Red, playing the parts of Miguel Cairo and Laynce Nix. He's got upside galore and would play 120+ games between LF, RF, 3B, and 1B.

Picking up Alex Gordon for spare parts and hope he reaches is potential is a great idea.

Counting on Alex Gordon to play 120+ games and produce for the Reds in 2011 is a bad idea.

Everybody sees that he was the #1 pick and had some big years in the minors, but when you look past that, he's a guy that will be 27 on opening day and not only has not improved but all indications are he is going backwards.

He has a lot of potential, so it would be worth it to take the chance if the cost is not high. At a certain point though you have to wonder if the potential is a mirage and he is a 4A guy.

Re: 2010 - 11 Winter League thread

Danny Dorn is now playing in the VWL.
He is currently 2 for 4 with a HR for the season.

Francisco's last 10 games:

.474/.535/.974 - OPS of 1.509

Other stand outs:

Kris Negron - AFL
.296/.360/.593

Luis Terrero - DWL
.303/.343/.515

Henry Rodriguez - VWL
.297/.317/.416

Felix Perez - PWL
.314/.352/.353

Miguel Rojas - VWL
.305/.379/.322

Pitching isn't worth mentioning.

Lets hope Francisco is given a fair shot in spring training to make the 25 man roster.

Becoming clear as he progresses he will probably not have much power in the Majors at all. Maybe a .670 to .740 bat with good glove work at all 3 OF positions. Something tells me the Reds will miss Nix alot more than we realize.

Actually, his glove work is less than stellar, especially on balls hit over his head
