Re: Gibson's Top 50 Guitar Solos of All Time

I know dick about guitar playing, but I freaking love Morello and Rage Against Machine. Glad to see my all-time fave Stevie Ray make the list at least.

Rave on, Stevie Rave On...

Isn't that what guitar solos are by definition? We're talking Rock & Roll, which has always been more about showmanship than music.

Re: Gibson's Top 50 Guitar Solos of All Time

Anyone who's pimping their heavy metal guitar heroes in this thread need to step back and listen to the videos that KLW just posted by Stanley Jordan. I don't care if you like his musical selections or not...but he is FAR AND AWAY the most talented man with a guitar in his hands alive. I have no doubt of that.

Re: Gibson's Top 50 Guitar Solos of All Time

I'm not a fan of solos parachuting into a song. The best are organic to the composition. That applies to most of that list, which is a pretty good one.

Put me down for Like a Hurricane and Marquee Moon.

Megadeth's "Tornado of Souls". Lead guitarist Marty Friedman nails the solo.

springsteen is releasing a video of a 78 Houston show next week and a preview of Because the Night is available. Solo starts at 5:10 or so and it just is sweet.
