Re: NLDS Game 1: Cincinnati @ Philadelphia
Phillips and Votto saw 3 pitches and swung at all 3.

Re: NLDS Game 1: Cincinnati @ Philadelphia
I don't care about pitch counts. It's the playoffs, the pitch counts won't amount to much as much as actual results. If the Reds score 5 runs on 80 pitches against Halladay, it's a success.

Re: NLDS Game 1: Cincinnati @ Philadelphia
The immediate predecessor to RZ was a site called Fastball. Some of us came from there, and a few of us were even around for the 1995 playoffs. I know Princeton was there, but can't remember anyone else. Richard Hand, maybe. LOL

Re: NLDS Game 1: Cincinnati @ Philadelphia
Halladay throws something absurd like 91% of his pitches for 1st pitch strikes. The scouting report reads "go up there ready to hack"

Quote:
The pitch count age has conditioned people to get too carried away over swinging at the first pitch. For some guys, the first pitch is the best one you'll see.
