Good on Maurice Clarett
We hear athletes say they've changed all the time. Some do, many don't. In the end, their actions will tell the story.
But watching this Maurice Clarett interview, it's very believable. One thing about Maurice is that he was always about Maurice. He had a cockiness about him. In this interview, he genuinely sounds like he's matured and has a different outlook on life. Very gratifying to hear this new perspective. http://sports.espn.go.com/videohub/v...deo?id=5732686

Re: Good on Maurice Clarett
This was a great piece. Right or wrong of me, I have thought of Maurice as a joke for the past 4 years, but this piece really made me think differently of him. He was a confused kid with his sights set on superstardom. He got ahead of himself and it led to more and more problems, including a battle with alcoholism.
You're right Brutus, he really seems genuine in this interview. I have some new found respect for Maurice Clarett. I really would like to see him get another shot at the NFL. Not sure if that will be in the cards or not, but it would be a nice story. |

Re: Good on Maurice Clarett
Is this the interview they aired on E:60 the other night? I watched that myself and it was purely by accident too. I saw the advertisement during Sportscenter and decided to watch it that night. I came away very impressed with Maurice as well. He seems very dedicated to doing the right things now and making sure his bad decisions are behind him. He came across as a mature and humbled young man and I felt so proud of him for turning his life around so well. I hope he keeps it up and who knows, maybe we'll see him playing on Sundays sometime in the near future.

Re: Good on Maurice Clarett
Wow! That's all I can say. I've seen a lot of interviews from athletes after they've fallen down to the depths and are trying to come back. Not one of them have ever resembled this one. There was nothing fake or contrived about what he was saying. He really gets it.
Good for Maurice. I hope he can continue to be as grounded and introspective when he realizes that he'll never make it in football; when he has to figure out what he's going to do for the rest of his life.
