3B Eric Cambell Signs With Reds
Signed out of the Independent Northern League. It appears he signed with a guaranteed double-A spot in place.

I'm impressed by his plate discipline, and we all know Carolina needs help. This could be a great transaction.

Re: 3B Eric Cambell Signs With Reds
Very good signing, IMHO. At one point in time, he was high in the Braves' priorities. I am not sure why that changed, but I think this is a talented, low-risk flier.

Re: 3B Eric Cambell Signs With Reds
Interesting. I saw him play high school baseball against my older brother. He is (by far) the best high school player I ever saw. I followed him after he graduated from high school...he had a great few years and just seemed to fizzle out. Hope he regains the form he used to have.

Re: 3B Eric Cambell Signs With Reds
So the Northern League is generally considered comparable to Low A or High A?
Here's Campbell's numbers on The Baseball Cube from last season http://thebaseballcube.com/players/C...Campbell.shtml Certainly the best he's done since he was in Low A, but then again, he's 25 years old. I agree, it's not bad filler, but I wonder what potential he has still.

It looks like his defense is questionable.

Some would say his attitude was questioned at times too.

Re: 3B Eric Cambell Signs With Reds
The Northern League quality would be High A to AA.
