2010 Fielding Bible (Arroyo and Bruce lead NL at their positions)

The 2010 Fielding Bible awards are out.

http://www.billjamesonline.net/field...-votetally.asp

No Reds won the Fielding Bible award this year, which is handed out to only one player at each spot in the whole league. If you separate it by AL and NL however, both Jay Bruce and Bronson Arroyo lead the way in the NL.

First Base – Daric Barton, Oakland

Second Base – Chase Utley, Philadelphia

Third Base – Evan Longoria, Tampa Bay

Shortstop – Troy Tulowitzki, Colorado

Left Field – Brett Gardner, New York Yankees

Center Field – Michael Bourn, Houston

Right Field – Ichiro Suzuki, Seattle

Catcher – Yadier Molina, St. Louis

Pitcher – Mark Buehrle, Chicago White Sox

It's not a popularity contest. (I assume you were being sarcastic.)

Jeter sucks defensively now, just like A-Rod has always sucked defensively.

Jeter wasn't even in the Top-20 among Shortstops.

Thanks for posting, CS.

Bill James voted Brandon Phillips 2nd overall.

Peter Gammons voted Votto 2nd overall and Bruce 1st overall.

James voted Bruce 2nd overall.

Interesting that Laynce Nix made the list a couple years ago. Actuall he was 6th last year for LF.

More evidence of how Bruce got robbed for a G.G. Maybe if he played center, as that seems to be the only outfield position in that vote.

Do you think that the outfield voting should be based on position rather than just 3 outfielders?

Yes.

We don't give a Left-side of the infield GG or a Right-side of the infield GG, or even an all-infield GG. First Basemen and Third Basemen would never win. Shortstops, like CenterFielders would win most GG's.

Also, the center field is played completely different from the right and left field.

I wouldnt say Jeter sucks. He doesnt have great range but there is more to defense than that.
