Report from Fall League
Watched my first AFL game of the year today. Here for 4 days. The Saguaros continued thir losing ways.
No Reds pitched. Mesaraco caught. Didn't have a chance to throw anyone out that I recall. Was quiet until his last at bat when he doubled to LF, It was one of those where you think it might go out but then top spin gets it. Hit just short of fence and got there in a hurry. Negron made a couple nice defensive plays but made no noise at plate. Sappelt had no hard defensive chances. Got infield hit, and lined out to RF once sharply. Had a section reserved for scouts and officials, and wandered over to see if I could recognize anyone, Dusty was there watching the game. (Does he live here?) |

Re: Report from Fall League
Thompson gave up double down right filed line and grounder thru right side and gve uo a run. DP helped limit damage. One of guys with Dusty and Eric is signinig autographs so must be ex-player. Negron jusr blooped sungle to drive in a run.

Re: Report from Fall League
DT has easy 4th but can't say much about it except hot dogs at peoria are pretty good. He did not pitch 5th. Sappelt had infield hit and Mesa K'd in 4th. SS for White Sox really picking it.

Sags have punched across 5 more with no outs in 7th. Reds figured prominately. Negrin walked Sappelt singledd up middle with rbases jacked and Mesaraco double off lc wall. As I typed this 2 more have come in with 0 outs. 12-1 Dusty ans Eric ledft

Re: Report from Fall League
Jax, what was up with the 'on field delay' to start the bottom of the 8th?

Re: Report from Fall League
Turns out the game only went 8 and was called via a forfeit. I am assuming that the team ran out of pitchers for the day.

Re: Report from Fall League
Yep, Mattingly got confused about the LA way, The FANS leave after the 8th inning, not the team. As they headed out for bottom of 8th Mattingly started talking to home plate umpire for 2 or 3minutes. Eventually they huddled up with all the crew and thet called a couple people over from stands who started making phone calls.
"Yes, sir,,,,,Mattiingly wants to quit" So they did. There were guys sitting in the Phoenix Bullpen..... Whatever |
