Trade idea with Tampa Bay
The Rays need young arms and the Reds have young arms.
Reds get: Jason Bartlett and BJ Upton Rays get: Leake, Ondrusek, Bray, Janish, and Heisey That would be a great deal for both teams. The Reds would get the SS and LF they need and the Rays will ge the bull pen help they covet. Janish and Heisey can step in for the departed and go along with the yong pitchers. This deal would make the Reds a true WS contendor. C-Hannigan 1B- Votto 2B- Phillips 3B- Rolen SS- Bartlett LF- Upton CF- Stubbs Rf- Bruce 1) Bartlett SS 2) Phillips 2b 3) Votto 1b 4) Upton LF 5) Bruce RF 6) Rolen 3B 7) Stubbs CF 8) Hannigan C Thats a solid lineup and great D. |

I don't think the Rays need any young starters. They're actually trying to find a way to promote Hellickson right now, I believe.

The Rays are going to be losing Crawford, there is no way they voluntarily give away Upton. Especially for that group that you mentioned.

Re: Trade idea with Tampa Bay
Why do people continue to believe teams will just hand over their young promising talent? i mean really come on, yes we have some things we can deal, but this idea that we can take prime talent away from other teams is a bit much.

Re: Trade idea with Tampa Bay
The Rays are looking to Move Upton and Bartlett as reported by every site going. They need young arms and the Reds have yonung arms. They may have to add a Masset or a Smith to the deal but they can get it done. Give them 3 good young arms with Heisey and Janish or Valiaka to step in for the departed and the deal could work, no matter if ya like it or not.

Upton and Bartlett for Cozart, Valaika, Danny Dorn, and Carlos Fisher.

2 quality relievers. 1 quality starter. Our future starting SS. And a guy who could start in the OF for many teams right now. I think it's way too much for a guy considered a slacker in Upton and a 31 year old SS coming off a subpar season for himself, which may signal he's on the downside of his career.

No thanks on Upton. Saw him quit on quite a few plays already in his career.

Re: Trade idea with Tampa Bay
Don't think about getting Justin Upton either from the D'backs. I just read on mlbtraderumors that one GM said that the D'backs trade demands are ridiculous.

Re: Trade idea with Tampa Bay
That's not unusuall. A lot of times a team will start out with demands that are through the roof just to see if anyone bites, and then lower them as they get closer to spring traingin (or the trade deadline, as the case may be).

Sounds like a video game trade to me. Lets take some expendable guys and trade them for some studs.
