Re: O's get Hardy
And so goes another piece of the Kearns/Lopez trade of 2006...

Re: O's get Hardy
I love this trade by the Orioles. A solid shortstop in return for a 28 year old reliever who hasn't pitched in the major leagues in three years and a 24 year old starter who spent last year in High-A. Hardy is an above average defender at SS and a .700+ OPS bat with the potential to be more. The move from Target Field to Camden Yards should benefit him. I was really hoping the Reds would acquire him.

Another pair of relievers for some quality talent. I swear, we could be getting Reyes for Ondrusek and Joseph if Walt would just pick up the phone.

Re: O's get Hardy
I love what the O's have done this offseason. They needed some decent talent to add to their youngsters and few veterans and they should be a better team next year with Reynolds and Hardy. Hope they can find a first baseman soon because that's their last big piece of the puzzle.

Re: O's get Hardy
Hardy is arb-eligble and made $5.1M last year. This was not a "baseball move" for the Twins. It was two relievers and five million bucks.
Hardy likely wasn't ever an option for the Reds as well given what we're hearing about being up against it budget-wise.
