After looking a bit, it seems like the #9 is a favorite of backup catchers through the years, and the only player or note that I could find since 1930 that wore it was Chick Hafey who played for the reds from 32 to 37 and wore #9 in 34.
Probably the best one I could find of him in a reds uniform.
