50 Best Songs of 2010...

...according to Paste Magazine, which mainly focuses on alternative and indie music. I wholeheartedly agree with #1, which is decidedly NSFW, and #2.

Thought this would make a good companion thread to the "Top Albums of 2010."

Big Josh Ritter fan, but I was wholly disappointed with his latest album "So Runs the World Away" and the single Change of Time has no business @25.

Giving up the Gun should have made the list.

Stylo by Gorillaz should have been higher.

Little Lion Man is an incredible song...deserves the very high placing it earned.

They got #1 right. And "Little Lion Man" deserves a spot in the top 10 for sure.

But "The Bed Intruder Song" should be #2.

One that would've made my list that didn't make this one is "You Will Leave a Mark" by A Silent Film.

I don't know; I thought the phrase 'leviathan and lonely' alone was enough to earn the spot.

Sleigh Bells at #4? I do not get them at all.

What's not to get? It's noise pop perfected, although admittedly polarizing and not for those who don't appreciate a little bit of "noise" in their music.

Conversely, I don't get all this Mumford & Sons love but I also don't care much for this indie folk movement. My folk preferences rest with folk punk.

How does Lil Wayne end up on alternative lists like this? That's what I don't get...

Re: 50 Best Songs of 2010...

I don't know these songs, but the number 1 song has a title that's F - U? Really?

To think that the Stones had to sing "Lets spend some time together", instead of "Lets spend the night together" on Ed Sullivan. /geezer rant.

Ironic since F U is one of the greatest retro-soul revivals in years.

Re: 50 Best Songs of 2010...

Gawd there was way too much mainstream music there...

There were only 6 songs from 2010 that I liked,

Your Decision-Alice in Chains
Let Me Hear You Scream-Ozzy Osbourne
Bad Company-Five Finger Death Punch
Born Free-Kid Rock
Pornstar Dancing-My Darkest Days
Between the Lines-STP

I'm pretty sure AiC, Ozzy, and Kid Rock are more widely accepted than any artists listed in the Paste article....

Yeah, that puzzled me too. Paste is hardly mainstream.
