Reds 7 vs. Indians 1
That's not a game score, it's a 'draft score'.
Terry Pluto, of the Cleveland Plain Dealer, wrote an article yesterday where he laid the blame for the Indians poor performances over the past several years on their lack of production from the MLB drafts of 2004-2007. According to him they have one draftee from that era that may start for the Tribe---starting pitcher Josh Tomlin (most likely the #5 starter at the beginning of the year).
Looking at the Reds of the same drafts they have produced 28% of their 'starters' from the same period. From last year we are looking at:
Jay Bruce - 2005
Paul Janish - 2004
Drew Stubbs - 2006
Homer Bailey - 2004
Sam LeCure -2005
Logan Ondrusek - 2005
Travis Wood - 2005
Throw in #4 OF Chris Heisey - 2006 as a hole card.
Quite an impressive group in my mind. The guys that did the drafting during that time, as well as the minor league instructors during their rise through the minors, did a heck of a job.
Yet, the Indians are trying to find even one guy to make their roster.
