Re: Tuesday 5/3/11 minor league updates

Maloney loads the bases in the 6th and is relieved by Gil. Gil allows a sac fly but that's all.

tied 1-1 after 5 1/2

Game one was Lewis's last rehab game according to Matt Andrews, so he will be up with the Reds tonight or tomorrow.

Can I assume he would be taking the place of Hermida?

Alonso and Mes have looked great at the plate lately, even if the rest of the team isn't picking them up.

Carolina with a nice 7-0 win behind Klinker (5 IP, 2 H), Tabor, Freeman and the new acquisition James Adkins. Mudcats scored 5 in the first. Costanzo and Coddington had two hits each.

Re: Tuesday 5/3/11 minor league updates

Stephen Hunt is 4 for 4 with two doubles to raise his average to .521. Bakersfield leads 5-4 headed into the bottom of the ninth. The Blaze had second and third with no outs in the top of the ninth, but the threat ended when Josh Fellhauer lined a shot at the drawn-in third baseman, who doubled up Brodie Greene (who's 3 for 4). Mace Thurman is on to try to save it. The announcer says he features a dancing changeup.

Bakersfield loses 6-5 on a two-out, bases-loaded single.

Re: Tuesday 5/3/11 minor league updates

Last minute move to get out to the game last night. Got there in time to see Klinker warm up in the pen pregame. He was very solid last night and the only time he he got into much trouble was when he wasn't aggressive. He took a line drive off the back of one of his legs but after two warm up pitches acknowledged that he was ready to go. Rock solid outing for the guy. Both his starts here have been very good.

Perez contiues to look better at the plate. I couldn't believe it when I look up and it is a 5-0 game in the first inning. Not going to regurgitate the boxscore but this game and the game Sunday are probably the two best games these guys have played this year. Sunday should have been a shut out as well.

Still ten games under but things looking better lately.
