I would say Mes should be up here too but my guess is Razor Ramon; who has been clutch this year needs to be on a different team for that to happen. Unless Mes is used to obtain a trade candidate.. and the only reason I can see this happening is because Ramon has the Spanish factor for Cueto, Volquez, Chapman, Arredondo, etc.. Catcher has never been an issue for the Reds for as long as I can remember. Just would like to see Mes get an opportunity because the past year and a half he has been Crazy Good.

By the way.. Alonso went 2-3 today with a HR & a BB. .911 OPS!!

So I was looking at the Reds 40 man roster and I was surprised that Mesoraco wasn't on it.He's doing pretty well at AAA and I thought he would be. I was even more surprised that Grandal was on it and he's only at Single-A.

Grandal is on the 40 due to him signing a major league deal as a draftee

You add a minor league prospect to the 40-man to protect them from being taken in the Rule 5. Since Meso doesn't have the requisite service time to qualify for the Rule 5, he doesn't need to be on the 40 man yet. No sense putting him on any earlier than they need to.
