Alex Wimmers- Yikes
Here's a local guy a lot of people on this board were clamoring for in the first round of last year's draft. Sounds like he has a lot of issues to work through and I, for one, am glad we didn't take him:

I went to grade school with his Dad's family. His aunt was in my class, his dad was a year ahead of us and then they had another brother who was a year ahead of them (in my brother's class). Their family lived above a corner store that Alex's grandpa ran in Deer Park, about a block from our school. His dad played on a terrific UDF C Level team with Len Matuszek and a host of terrific ballplayers. He was on the 1972 Moeller team that won the state title.

Re: Alex Wimmers- Yikes
Seems like Alex Wimmers can't catch a break. He's been shelved due to "a 'very slight tear' in his ulnar collateral ligament." Presently they have it in a "stabilizer," but it's possible he has surgery in his future.

Re: Alex Wimmers- Yikes
Weren't there concerns about Wimmer's throwing motion in college? I remember some people saying to stay clear of him because of that.
