It's a contract year. Coco is bouncing back for the bucks.

Do you think he tried to pitch bad last year then?

Does anyone intentionally try to perform badly?

I didn't say he was. But players performing better in contract years is not exactly unheard of.

LOL. I'm afraid he stole an extra two years of paychecks with that contract.

Reds shouldn't have jerked Frazier around position-wise.

A left side of Frazier at 3B and Cozart at SS may be in order.

I think a player can get into better shape and prepare for a season better.
And this can lead to a better performance. You can make of that whatever you want.

i agree with that, but cordero looks just as fat this year, as he did last.

That's a reasonable argument, I could see someone being better because they better prepared since they knew a contract year was coming.

I hope for Thompson's sake he was watching the game last night.

If he did he would know that he'll be out there whether he has to throw 80 or 180 pitches.

And he wouldn't walk Dane Sardinha.

Re: 5-26-11 Reds @ Phillies

Here is an article from Spring Training:

http://www.foxsportsohio.com/02/20/1...99&feedID=3800

Cordero even admits he wasn't in good shape in 2010.

Quote:
Cordero admits that last season he burdened the scale with an all-time high, a not-so-honorable 250 pounds.

So he decided to do something about it.

"With extra weight it, gives you trouble with your mechanics," said Cordero, who is on the final year of a four-year contract that pays him $12 million this season. "I worried about that last year because something was going on with my mechanics, which is why I was walking that many people (36 walks in 72 2/3 innings). I wasn't in good shape."
Actually this is pretty sad if you think about. A player making over 10 million a year not being in shape.

To borrow from an old Martyism, Thompson has approached Dane Freakin' Sardinha like a pit cobra.
