Rolen had two hits last night and I believe this is because Kershaw is a Lefty and Dusty likes to break the lefties up vs a LHP. but none of that doesnt mean I disagree with you, jsut attempting to make sense of it for the masses.

I understand the thought process against a lefty pitcher but it still doesn't make any sense. Votto and Bruce aren't your typical left handed bats, they crush lefty pitchers.

There's a difference in crushing LHP and excellent LHP. Don't think this move is bad against a guy like Kershaw.

Re: Dodgers @ Reds 6-4-2011

I knew last night when Votto and Bruce both made outs against a left reliever this was happening. It doesn't matter if it was just one time, and that they usually kill lefties. Dusty was just looking for a reason to split them up. He got it.

Re: Dodgers @ Reds 6-4-2011

Nah I doubt that is it. I think today's lineup is because we're facing Kershaw and Bruce will be back in the 4 hole against righties.

Ah well, hopefully Rolen has a big game.

Ethier chops it to Votto, turns and throws to BP to get Carroll out, no throw to first
1 on, 2 out
