Fay feels the force...(Cozart)

Reds beat writer has a "feeling" that we may see Zack Cozart in a Reds uniform come Friday in Baltimore. So my question, if that happens, what move do the Reds make to free up a roster spot for him?

U MAKE THE CALL...

Personally I think Mr. Janish will get sent to AAA....

I'll beleive that when I see it. The Reds are not typically a team that eats contracts.

tbh i never rly understood this. your paying him no matter what. if he sucks and is gone then it only helps the team. If hes here it only hurts the team.

Exactly, that is the same way I felt last year when some thought that Aaron Harang should stay in the rotation because of the money.

Please God let this happen! Cozart up, Heisey in left, maybe the fans had it right and the front office was wrong.

Cozart Up Friday?
John Fay "senses" it.

I think you could see Zack Cozart in a Reds uniform by the time the club gets to Baltimore. I don’t know that for sure, but I get that sense.

The club is struggling so badly offensively that it needs some sort of spark. Cozart could provide it. He’s hitting .320 with 25 doubles, seven home runs and 29 RBI at Triple- A Louisville.

To make such a move, the Reds would likely have to designate Edgar Renteria for assignment. That means they’d have to pay the balance of Renteria’s salary.

But keep two things in mind: a) The money has already been budgeted and b) the Reds need to keep drawing to meet the budget long-term. Falling out of the race would be devastating to attendance.

Shortstops Renteria and Paul Janish are both hitting below .230 and neither has a home run. They’ve also have combined 15 errors.
For the record, Cozart was not in the lineup in AAA today.

Re: Fay feels the force...(Cozart)

If Cozart is coming to Baltimore obviously Edgar being released would be the 1-1 logical move.

But, since we have 6 games in AL parks upcoming I wouldn't be surprised if Fisher and/or Horst is sent back down. The LeCure call-up has the bullpen a bit overloaded and you can always use the additional positional players in AL style baseball.

When Fay "senses" something is he usually right? I know his reports are usually accurate, I just wonder why he would "sense" something, and report it without already knowing something.

This move would also open up a spot on the 40-man for a guy like Sappelt.

No, but I still like him since he answers a lot of my questions on Twitter.

If Cozart gets the call, that means that within this past week, Dusty and Walt have seen something to cause them to be unhappy with what they have.

About time.
