Bailey activated, Fisher optioned

The Cincinnati Reds have activated right-handed pitcher Homer Bailey off the 15-day disabled list. To make room on the 25-man roster, the Reds have optioned righty Carlos Fisher to Triple-A Louisville Bailey, who was placed on the disabled list on May 25 with a sprained shoulder, will start Sunday for the Reds in the series finale with the Baltimore Orioles.

Re: Bailey activated, Fisher optioned

Fisher's time allowed for notice in today's Baseball-reference.com blog entry, Relief Pitchers who have thrown 95+ pitches in a relief appearance this season:

http://www.baseball-reference.com/blog/archives/12286

Not surprising, the all time list shown later in the entry only has one pitcher past the 1950's or 60's - Knuckleballer Tom Candiotti. Of course, those record length relief appearances would raise loads of eyebrows today.

Fisher, to his credit, did what we needed in that 19 inning game. Hats off to him.

Re: Bailey activated, Fisher optioned

Yes Fisher did his job. It just came down to the options game or I think he would have stayed. Arrendondo needs to be in AAA working on his command but he has no options left.
