Re: 6.28.11 v the Rays

2 of those 3 pitches were pretty good pitches to swing at.

Leadoff double for Kotchman past Votto.

Stubbs needs to shorten his swing and go to right field.

Nice play by Rolen. Upton's gone and Kotchman has to hold at 2nd.

He goes through stretches where he struggles? Ok, and Alaska goes through stretches where it snows.

I think it's more accurate to say that Stubbs occasionally has good weeks and that's about it.

Jaso grounds out to Rolen....and for some reason Kotchman holds again.

Fuld grounds out to Rolen too. Another nice shutdown by Cueto after the leadoff hit. 1-0 Rays after 5 full.

Situational hitting- hopefully Stubbs will adjust and learn. Stubbs is a fine talent, but still learning the game on this level.

It's all adjusting and readjusting. The skills are there, though.

Re: 6.28.11 v the Rays

I don't know if I'd characterize Stubbs as awful or not, but I do know striking out every one third of your plate appearances is not good.

Edit: I want to add that his speed, baserunning, defense and power make him still a worthwhile player. Just mean to say that his inability to make contact consistently is a rather huge mark against him.

60 pitches for Cueto. 38 strikes, 22 balls. 2 hits, 1 run, 4 k's, 1 bb's.

Regardless of what Price is doing...that's flat out SOLID.

I certainly agree with this, and if nothing else, keeps him from being a good option at lead off.

Heisey K's on 3 pitches. That's 9. Sheesh.
