Beltran

Does anyone else think we should make a run at Carlos Beltran for LF? Because I think it would be a great fit. New York would have to eat a lot of the money owed to him, but I would like to have him hitting 4th behind Votto. Thoughts?

Re: Beltran

I hope they are willing to rent a player, otherwise there won't be much out there to be had.

That said, I heard on the radio today that the Mtes consider him the top bat on the market and are asking for at least a grade-A prospect for him.

Re: Beltran

I wouldn't give up too much for him. He's a good player, but the production from LF is really not that bad, certainly not bad enough to get rid of a guy like Alonso or Mesoraco.

Its not about production in LF, its about giving Votto some protection as well as giving us a legit number 4 hitter...I would do it if all it took was Alonso. Does anyone really believe that Joey is going to be gone after this contract? I don't, he'll be here at least another 3-5 years after 2013.
