Mariemont serpent mound could be world's largest

Quote:
This serpent mound is 2,952 feet long, more than twice the length of the celebrated Great Serpent Mound in Adams County, which many believe to be the largest serpent effigy in the world.

“This Mariemont serpent mound is much better preserved than the one in Adams County, which was largely reconstructed,” Tankersley said. “The fact that this much of the Mariemont earthwork survives is miraculous.”

Part of the mound along Miami Bluff Drive is about 7 feet high, close to the original height of the entire earthwork when it was built, he said. Most of the remnants are about 3 feet high.

Can't Adams County have anything?

How come I have never even heard of this thing before? Pretty cool. The one in Adams county looks a lot more like a serpent.

It actually was just found.

The part near my home runs along the bottom of a bluff that drops about 100 feet, into the woods, I suppose it's really covered. The part with the circle is down by the pool, that is where I believe the initial discovery was.

Yeah, I imagined that it was pretty well hidden since it has gone undiscovered this long.

Maybe this accounts for your mystical qualities. The vibes were always in the air.

There is a perfectly circular mound outside Yorktown, IN that was only recently determined to be a possible earthen mound. It's even more obvious than this thing.

I liked one of the comments.

Could someone please explain to me the difference between an archeological site, and a frickin' pile of dirt?

Man, if you only had one more of those houses, you could have exchanged them for a hotel on Marvin Gardens.
