What Will Dusty Do About Arroyo Thursday

http://cincinnati.reds.mlb.com/news/...k_cin&c_id=cin

I say Dusty will run him out there because keeping the "Streak" alive is way more important to a guy like Dusty than winning is.

Loyalty over common sense every time.

Do you have a better option for Arroyo starting tomorrow?

If Arroyo is hurt then start Travis Wood. He is already on the 25-man roster so no moves would have to be made.

Forgot about Wood getting called up. im very much on the fence about what to do. Arroyo did give up only one run last game, but it took him 120 pitches to make it 6 innings. His strikeouts were up last game, walks were low, an he gave up only 6 hits, which is on the low end for him this season. He may continue with his way of pitching last game, but Wood hasnt really been much better.

We could always start Arroyo but give him a very short leash, and have Wood ready to come in and go 5+ innings in relief. If Arroyo comes out and struggles, that could be his last appearance of the season

I am as big a believer in miracles as anyone but I think this season is lost and Reds management needs to acknowledge that fact. Trade or release Hernandez, Cordero and Renteria. What is the point of them continuing to play? DL Arroyo. It is wonderful that he is a trooper but there is nothing worth pushing onward for at this point. Give his starts to Wood. Put Willis in the bullpen. If he might not be with the team next year then, once again, what is the point? Give his starts to Maloney and see what you have there. Bring up Mesoraco, Boxberger and Valaika and start getting ready for 2012. What difference does it make if the team finishes 8 games out or 15 games out? None whatsoever. It would be nice to see Reds management be proactive for once.

If Mesoraco comes up, i would prefer Hernandez is here to help him with the tendencies of the pitchers. i do not like the idea of trading one of our better hitters when he can still help the future of the team.

Of course he will start. The only diagnosis that matters is doc kremchek. He says he is fine, and he says dontrelle is fine. They will both start.

Kind of a non-issue to me.

Arroyo pitched well his last outing. We don't have many healthy alternative options. Wood hasn't pitched that well in triple A. Volquez has had some improvement, but I'm not sure I want to bring him back up just yet.

The season is lost and I don't really see any good substitute solutions at this point. I'd just let him make his next start.

I think he'll start and hope that big ballpark will hold some of those taters he's been serving up.

Re: What Will Dusty Do About Arroyo Thursday

Time to cut bait and go on. Arroyo will likely start and you never know what the outcome will be.
I would like to see him on the DL so we can have more time for a young pitcher in the rotation.
I would be putting the pieces together for next year. Is Heisey, Sapp or Yonder the answer in LF? Are we sold on Stubbs staying in CF with all the strikeouts? I think we have a SS for the future, but who can be the utility guy? Cairo still in the plans for next season? Janish going to ride the pine as a defensive specialist or will he be gone because he can't hit? Have we seen the last of ScottyRo? Is Frazier the solution at 3B? Hernandez needs to be gone, should have traded at the deadline, and the future backstop given some pt. Lets see if Mesoraco is ready.
Work with the young rotation - Cueto, Leake, Wood, Bailey and Maloney. If Willis is going to be around next season, give him the ball some, but if not, he doesn't need to wast a space for guys who need to get their feet wet. I think he would be a great 4th starter next season, but he is on a one year deal, correct?
The core - Votto, Phillips and Bruce can take some time off, if they want to, once a week, to give some of the people we have to make decisions on have their fair shot.

At this point does it really matter? I think for the health of Bronson a season ending DL stint couldn't hurt, but never happen. Also is Wood on the ML roster or in AAA?
