Stuff to do in Cincy

My fiance' and I are headed to the Queen City for the weekend, mostly to catch the game tomorrow night and visit family in Hamilton. But we're not sure what to do with ourselves the rest of the time. I've not really spent time there as a tourist -- what should we do with ourselves?

Obvious things (don't know if you grew up in this area or not)

Kings Island
New Port on the Levee, Newport Aquarium (do they still have the duck boat tours?)
Casinos
Museum Center
Zoo
Reds Hall of fame
Entertrainment Junction if you have small kids (or are into model trains)
Air Force Museum (Dayton)

How long are you in for? If you're going to the game saturday evening and coming in saturday morning/Friday evening, and leaving again on Sunday, that doesn't leave a ton of time aside from visiting relatives in Hamilton (probably take you a good 30 minutes from downtown to get there) which would limit places like Kings Island or the Zoo that you can't really whip thru in a couple of hours. Its suppose to be pretty hot/humid, so the aquarium or Reds hall of fame prior to the game could make a nice side trip.

The Cleopatra exhibit at the Museum Center is really worth seeing.

We're coming in late tonight and heading out Sunday afternoon.

Food, museums and other cultural activities are usually high up on the list. Planning to go down to the creation museum out of pure, morbid curiousity.

I would love to find a decent lookout place where I can get a good aerial view of the city.

Never been to or heard anything about the creation museum. It also isn't exactly close to the city or Hamilton.

I have heard good things about the Cleopatra Exhibit.

I have also heard good things about this. The Cincinnati Brewery Tour http://www.otrbrewerydistrict.org/events_tour.php. Its in OTR so I guess you could say thats cultural.

You could head down to the Newport Levy go to the Acquarium, then over to the Hofbrauhaus which is right across the street, and then head to the Reds game. Its only about a 15 minute walk from there.

The Krohn Conservatory in Eden Park is great, but I'm a plant lover.

Go to Paul Brown Stadium and watch the grass grow.

The Zoo is my favorite place to visit. It's not just the animals, but the Zoo has one of the most mature botanical collections in the US. The plant life and landscape design there is just amazing.

Wright Patterson USAF Museum in Dayton. Been there a few times- it's a gem of US aeronautical history.

Newport Aquarium. Great for kids.
The Cincinnati Museum Center. I prefer this to the Aquarium. A large Cincinnati history museum, the museum of Natural History and a pretty good Children's museum.

Eden Park Krohn Conservatory. Another very mature plant collection, with an indoor rainforest and waterfall! Never gets old, and I've been going there for forty years.

A different suggestion from those above (which are excellent) is The Queen City Sausage Festival in Newport near the levee. It is a new idea so I don't know how it will turn out, but Queen City is the maker of most of the sausage there and they produce very high quality sausage.

A sausage festival? My god, how I miss living there.

Not that this would keep me from going, but I'm not particularly a fan of Queen City Sausage. Had one of their brats last week and it had no taste. Back in college, I drove a truck for Edelmanns, where they gave (gave!) us breakfast and lunch daily of the best sausage around. Queen City put out a cheaper product, but the quality was not nearly what Edelmann's was. Unfortunately, that may have been their undoing. Anyway, when I am in town I prefer to get mine from Avril's, Kroeger Bros., Eckerlin's, Humbert's, etc. Most of them have really, really good brats, metts and leona.
