Re: Reds @ Birdies - Rubber Match - Sunday 9/4

Edgar making a serious bid to be brought back. 2-run bomb.

Bronson gives one back already. Number 37 on the season. If he works at it he can reach 40 today. I see why he is still getting starts. LOL. Pujols drives one to the warning track in right. Just missing. Two down. Holliday with a solid single. Lance Berkman runs to the dish. Berkman forces Bruce to leap at the wall to pull one in. Good job, Bronson. I see you still have it today. Can someone please explain why he is still in the rotation at this point in a wasted season? Are Mike LaCoss and Jimmy Haynes not available? I thought Dusty wanted to reach .500 and catch the Cardinals? It's not happening running Arroyo out there every fifth day.

I don't know what the plan is for Volquez the rest of the way, but I'm hoping he gets a few of Arroyo's starts. There's no reason to continue sending him back out there. He's just wasting starts right now

Stubbs singles to right, nudging his OPS up over .700. Francisco lumbers plateward. And flies out to straightaway center, fairly deep.

Bronson fails to move them up. Fundamentals. Bronson walks to juice the bases for ER. Whiff. No damage done. 2-1.

Phillips' numbers since moving into the leadoff position are sick. .420/.474/.565/1.039.

Leadoff single by Skip Schumaker. Laird Ks. Descalso singles to center. Stubbs misplays the ball and the runners move up a base. Fundamentals.

Reds can't extend both Phillips and Cordero, can they?
