Votto grounds to the right side for the first out in the bottom of the third. Bruce flies out to right. Heisey up. Heisey Ks as Pomeranz cuts through the heart of the Reds order. Ubaldo Who?

I thought the Reds drove a stake through the Cardinals heart. St. Louis leading, Milwaukee losing. 4.5 back if those scores hold up. I wonder if Dusty still thinks the Reds can catch the Cardinals?

Smith rolls one over to Valaika. First man retired in the bottom half of the frame. Frazier showing some glove. Scoops and fires. Two down.

Not to beat a Dusty/Heisey Dead horse, but Heisey is hitting .205 against lefties. Sappelt is hitting .300. Why play Sappelt against the righties, when Dusty says he looks for match-ups?

Goodbye, baseball. Volquez loses his no-hitter and shutout in one pitch as Wigginton circles the basepaths. Rosario with a ground single to left. I missed the third out. On to the fifth trailing by a run.

Watching the Bengals game...
How has Volquez looked? I see he just gave up a hr, but does his command look any better? |

People rave about Stubbs' defensive abilities but the numbers don't back that assertion up for the past two seasons. And we all know his bat is nothing special.

Razor bounces out on the first pitch. Frazier grounds out.

I didn't know Pomeranz was the player to be named later in the Ubaldo deal. Alex White was also in that trade.

Pomeranz is the Rockies #2 prospect and #28 prospect overall.

Valaika with his and the Reds second hit of the game. Volquez one-hopper to third. Five innings are in the book.
