Two 1st basemen tonight? Stubbs gets to cover LF as well as CF.

Thanks, Big Klu, for these updates. Nice to get the long view on how today's Reds stack up against those we remember from earlier years.

Re: 9.13.11 Cubbies v Reds

I can't believe I actually had a couple debates with Reds fans entering the season regarding Renteria v Janish. I said Renteria was clearly the better offensive player even at this stage of his career and many doubted that statement. They said Renteria/Janish were basically equal offensively. Not even close. One of the nice things about this month is hopefully it's the last time I'll ever see Paul Janish in a Reds uniform. ;-)

Renteria is still a very-serviceable backup SS. Definitely not a starter at this stage of his career, but he's a solid backup. Still at least decent defensively and won't hurt you with the stick (for a SS). I don't get his unwillingness to play 3B though. It could extend his career like it extended Tony Fernandez's.

Reds win with Leake pitching 8 strong for his 12th win. Got his ERA down below 4 , too.
