Re: Reds stats through 160 games.
Disappointing season. Among the "regulars" Votto and Phillips are the only players with whom I am not disappointed to at least some degree. Among the pitchers Cueto, Leake and Cordero are the only ones whom I am really pleased.
Jay Bruce made some progress as compared to last season but I expected much more. I wasn't surprised that Scott Rolen couldn't remain healthy. Sadly he is probably more or less done. Drew Stubbs stole bases and played good defense but didn't hit as well as I had hoped. Arroyo, Bailey and Volquez were all disappointments.

Re: Reds stats through 160 games.
Drew Stubbs turned into... what the Reds think Stubbs is. I guess. They certainly don't know what he is.
Mike Leake was to me the biggest surprise. Considering his off field issue, lack of professional experience and the overall averageness (I'm copwriting this as a word) of his stuff, he did really well. BP should be in line for another GG. He should also win the Silver Slugger award for 2B as well. He was the best 2B in the NL this year. 3B, SS, LF and CF were offensive black holes. CF was probably the most productive. Boggles the mind.

Re: Reds stats through 160 games.
The Reds had a lot of sub-.700 OPS at bats this year:
Stubbs 595 at bats at .680 OPS Rolen 252 at bats at .676 Renteria 292 at bats at .656 Lewis 183 at bats at .638 Janish 331 at bats at .515 The Reds also had a lot of 5.00 ERA or above innings pitched: Willis 75.2 innings at 5.00 ERA Arroyo 191 innings at 5.09 Volquez 101.2 innings at 5.84. And close by is Wood with 106 innings at 4.84. Last edited by Kc61; 09-27-2011 at 03:07 PM. |
