Ryan Madson 4 yrs 44 million????????
Phillies and Madson are supposedly close to 4yr deal for 44 million with year 5 option at 13 million. Really???? Ryan I have been a closer for a year Madson get 11 mil per for 4 years????? Do the Phillies know they don't have to offer ridiculous contracts to any player they have called Ryan?

Edit: After editing the spelling of Buehrle 3 times I worry about having to type it that often if the Reds signed him. I think I could live with the problem. 1 million dollars less than the 4 year deal the Reds signed Cordero to 4 years ago. Seems like a steal.

He picked a great year for his HR/FB% to drop dramatically.
2009 10.3% 77.1IP 2010 8.2% 53.0IP 2011 3.7% 60.2IP Career 10.4% 630IP 2011 was his career year by far and he still only touched a 1.7 fWAR. ionocoach

If there's such a thing as a reliever deserving $10M+, Madson has to be up there as among the most deserving. He just hasn't gotten the attention of more established "closers".

He may not have been a closer for years, but he's been filthy for years. I'm pretty sure the Phils would take him straight up over Papelbon. They know what they're getting from Madson.
