ST: Reds vs. Padres 3/7

Bronson serving up the easy cheese today.

Jeff Decker flies out to warning track.
Jeremy Hermida leaves the park on the first pitch.
Yonder Alonso rips a line drive that Phillips snags on the first pitch.
Blanks flies out to Ludwick.

1-0 after the top of the first.

Re: ST: Reds vs. Padres 3/7

Gameday isn't giving the pitch information. Was curious as to how his velocity was. Maybe Kelch will give it sometime during Arroyo's stint.

Top of the second.

Hundley hits a number to Arroyo who tags Hundley out.
Grandal with a routine fly to Center.
Gyorko grounds to short.

Bronson breezes through that half inning.

Re: ST: Reds vs. Padres 3/7

Bottom of the second: (Kelch mentions there are no guns that can be seen from the press box. So no information on how hard Arroyo is throwing.)

Rolen Ks.
Bruce lines a double into the corner.
Bruce gets picked off second. Luebke has Kd three batters and picked off the other two. Reds have their fundamentals right where they want them.
Ludwick Ks.

Is King Felix still out there?

Arroyo gives up a single and a walk with one down but wriggles out of trouble by getting Hermida to hit into a twin-killing. 4-6-3. Three pretty good innings from Bronson. Nice to see.

Re: ST: Reds vs. Padres 3/7

On to the 5th.

Gyorko leads things off with a single.
Double by Valdez puts runners on 2nd and 3rd.
(Does anyone feel that the announcers talking about what they had for dinner the night before adds anything to the broadcast?)
Pop up behind third as Rolen races back to haul it in.
Slow roller to first plates the runner with two out.
Hermida grounds hard to Phillips.

2-0 SD

Not really. I don't pay attention to results in st. I pay attention to stuff and Arroyo doesn't have any.

Re: ST: Reds vs. Padres 3/7

Ron Mahay gives up two runs in the sixth on three hits (including a home run) and a walk. Normally, I would call that a poor outing but he may have had great stuff. I am quick learner.

How do you know what kind of stuff Arroyo is dealing without the public radar gun? I am listening to the Radio- I have no clue.

Re: ST: Reds vs. Padres 3/7

Kelch noted that Dusty Baker has three items for the club to work on this spring.

1) fewer strikeouts - 13 today
2) pitchers issuing fewer walks - 5 today
3) better hitting with runners in scoring position - 0 for 4.
