Zack Cozart
I've been pretty pumped about this guy for a while now. He played really well in his call-up last year, and while I don't think that he can sustain the kind of production that he showed in those 11 games, his spring training this year and fairly consistent play throughout his career leads me to believe he can be a very effective player for us.
I'm thinking something like .275+ AVG with 15 - 20 HR, 75 - 85 R and 15-20 SB (I don't think his 30 SBs last year are an indication of his baserunning ability...he can swipe some but he isn't an elite speedster.) Mostly I've been impressed with the way he's been handling the 2nd batter role. He's very responsible in the field and his hitting is a plus for the SS position. I don't think he's an all-star or superstar caliber SS but he can be a valuable player for us I think.

Re: Zack Cozart
Between Cozart, Gregorious, and Hamilton, I feel pretty bullish about our future at SS.

Re: Zack Cozart
It's part of what makes me feel like we can make a big bid for Votto and let Phillips walk/trade him. As much as it pains me to say that because I'd love for us to keep BP, if it's one or the other we have a good crop coming up in the infield and Votto is pretty much irreplaceable. Hamilton will likely be switched to 2B anyway because he doesn't have an overly great arm.

I'd take .260ish with 10 HR and 75 runs. One thing is sure, he's going to get pitches to hit in front of Votto.

Tearing it up right now. I hope he carries it through to the regular season.

Re: Zack Cozart
I think Cozart is the number one sleeper in MLB fantasy. So plenty of people have eyes on him.

Re: Zack Cozart
Hes going to be key this year along with Stubbs and/or Heisey/Ludwick. I agree he should get plenty of pitches to hit sitting in front of Votto
I agree with Jamz stat line for him in 2012. id really like to see him get 130+ hits. Anythings possible. Just hope he makes contact and limits the strikeouts for the sake of this strikeout machine lineup. |
