As much as I wanted to see H-Rod getting regular ABs in Louisville, it looks like you were correct. Costanzo promoted to AAA according to Jamie Ramsey's Better Off Red Blog http://ramsey.mlblogs.com/

Jordan Smith was activated off the 15-day disabled list and optioned to Triple-A Louisville. Another move will have to be made on the Bats' roster to make room for Smith.

Costanzo's too mature a hitter for AA, anyway.

That may be true, but I am more concerned about getting our top prospects an early chance at proving himself at a high level rather than having a AAAA guy at the appropriate level.

Re: 2012 Minor League Transactions

I'm hoping Costanzo hits like mad at AAA and is in Cinti before we know it. I don't care if he is 29 or whatever; he's the closest thing we have to a ready left-handed bat in the minors who can play a position of need.

Dayton placed Sean Buckley on the disabled list with a sprained ankle. Robert Maddox was called up from "Billings" to take his place.

The Dragons sent Erik Miller back to extended spring training. Brooks Pinckard was sent down from Bakersfield to take his place. I'm wondering if someone in Bakersfield is soon going to come off the disabled list (Blaine Howell?) to replace Pinckard.

Howell was indeed activated.

As one of those who fretted about his fate years ago, I'm psyched about this. However it works out.

Seems like an odd move.

I would assume it's just a paper move.

As would I, but he has pitched very well so it is just a little strange that he is the guy they will go without for a few days.
