To date Wirfin Obispo has pitched 6 innings. He has given only 2 hits and 1 walk while striking out six. 0.00 ERA.

Re: Tuesday 5/1/2012 Minor League Updates

Josh Smith drags his 7+ ERA out to the mound for the Blaze and promptly gives up a deuce. Bakersfield goes down in order and trail 2-0 after one.

Pensacola relievers pitch six shutout innings and Pensacola scores on a two-out single by Cody Puckett in the tenth to come all the way back from a 4-0 deficit to win 5-4. Donnie Joseph pitched two innings to pick up his third win of the season.

Josh Smith has settled down but Bakersfield still trails 2-0 after three. Nine up and nine down for Blaze batters so far tonight.

Bakersfield trails 3-0 after five. Blaze has one hit, a double by Hamilton. Josh Smith has been the beneficiary of four, count 'em, four double plays in five innings.

Incidentally, that double pushed Hamilton back up to the double-Mendoza line.

Re: Tuesday 5/1/2012 Minor League Updates

Travis Mattair has hit his sixth (while batting .148) and Bakersfield trails 3-1 in the seventh. Hamilton's second hit (no steal) puts him at .407.

Re: Tuesday 5/1/2012 Minor League Updates

Travis Mattair is pretty much been all or nothing this season. 9 hits in 62 at-bats has him hitting .145. But 6 of the 9 have left the ballpark. Michael Griffin, recently back with the Blaze gave up two runs in the 8th. A three-run ninth-inning Bakersfield rally left them one shy, as they lost 5-4.

Re: Tuesday 5/1/2012 Minor League Updates

Wind kept a lot of balls in the park last night in Pensacola for both teams. The first three Jackson hits would have been HRs on any other night.

Minor league baseball is suppose to be all about development but this team is horrible on the basepaths. Like Pioneer league terrible.

Rovers have been in the past two series: Eric Davis was in tonight and Freddie Benavides last home stand.

I believe its proper name is the Hornsby line.

Have you had a chance to see how hard Obispo is throwing? I got a chance to see him on Milb.tv the other day, but the announcers gave no readings and the online video was about a full minute ahead of the Blue Wahoos online radio broadcast so I couldn't listen with such a delay.
