Tuesday, May 9, 2012, Minor-League Updates

Apparently, the Bats wake up early, and it's during the night games when the lumber slumbers. They had a 6-2 lead by noon. Bill Rhinehart, batting cleanup, has homered, Phipps has a double, Valaika has a windfall of two hits, and Pedro Villarreal, in his first AAA start, has walked none and fanned 7 through five. Only one of his runs is earned. Funny--I saw him pitch for Pensacola and he gave no hint of that sort of thing.

Corcino's pitching for Pensacola with a 1-0 lead in the second, thanks to a leadoff double by LaMarre, sac by Didi and RBI groundout for Brodie Greene, who has lately turned it on.

Villareal went 5 2/3 with only 2 earned runs on 6 hits (left with a 6-4 lead after an error let in 2) with no walks and 7 strikeouts. Good first start in AAA, be interesting to see what happens his next couple of starts.

And as the hour advances, Louisville fades . . . It's now 6-5 after six.

Pensacola's tied 1-1 in the third. LaMarre is 2-2.

Jordan Smith will try to close it out in the 9th for Louisville, still leading 6-5.

1-2-3 for Smith, all the balls in the air, and the Bats hold on, 6-5.

There was scoreless relief, also, from Texeira, Christiani and Webb.

LaMarre's third hit (3-3, .285) drives in Puckett and Yordanys Perez, and Pensacola leads 3-1 in the seventh. Corcino batted for himself and sacrificed both runners.

Are you kidding me? Mississippi scores 4 runs in the bottom of the seventh -- all on wild pitches! One by Clayton Tanner, two by Drew Hayes (one of them scoring two runners).

Re: Tuesday, May 9, 2012, Minor-League Updates

I know people won't agree but Daniel Tuttle should be fined heavily. The Dragons played 23 innings of baseball yesterday. Their bullpen has to be depleted. And yet Tuttle gets himself run from the game tonight in the second inning. He just walked his second batter in succession so I am guessing it from arguing the strike zone.

Dayton's 8 relievers:
Kemp 3 IP yesterday
Contreras 2 IP yesterday
Kiel 4 IP yesterday
Muhammad 3 IP yesterday
Pinckard 2 IP yesterday.

The bullpen has to pick up 7 or 8 more innings tonight. Dumb.

NOTE: I see they brought a fresh arm up today. Michael Dennhardt is up from AZL. Never heard of this guy before. It seems as if he has never pitched in the minors before.

Dennhardt was drafted in the 32 round of the 2011 draft. He had Tommy John surgery in 2011.

This is how I do it. Click on minor league forums so you get to the page where all the threads are. Then go to that thread. Don't click on the thread title but right click in that box. Sometimes it works for me and sometimes it doesn't. When you right click in that box then, hopefully, the thread title will look like it is in a little box itself. And you make your correction. If that makes any sense.
