Re: Thursday 5/17/2012 Minor League Updates
Negron strikes out and Harris flies out for the first two Bats outs in the 10th. BTW the demotion has not helped Willie Harris' bat at all as he is hitting .160 in his small sample size in Louisville.

Dayton lost 5-4. Kyle Waldrop had a pair of doubles and Yovan Gonzalez hit a 9th-inning HR.

Re: Thursday 5/17/2012 Minor League Updates
Soto grounded into a forceout after a walk moved a runner into scoring position with two outs for the Bats.
Now in the bottom of the 10th, the Red Wings have a runner on second with two outs. |

The Dragons get one back in the top of the 9th on a Yovan Gonzalez lead-off home run but still end up losing 5-4.

Miguel Rojas continues his hot stint in Louisville with an RBI single to put the Bats up 3-2 in the top of the 11th. Runners still on the corners with only one out for the Bats.

The Bats added another in the top of the 11th on a Peacock RBI groundout.
Jordan Smith now has two outs in the bottom of 11 with the two run lead. |

Re: Thursday 5/17/2012 Minor League Updates
Bakersfield has three hits through three innings, but neither of them are from Billy. Lohman is two for two and Josh Smith has turned in a great first two innings of work.

Re: Thursday 5/17/2012 Minor League Updates
Puckett had three hits for Louisville. Pretty fair AAA debut.
Transitions aren't always so smooth. Vidal has struck out four times tonight for Pensacola. |

Re: Thursday 5/17/2012 Minor League Updates
I try to be positive, but man, there just doesn't appear to be any impact bats in the Reds system. I just don't see anyone who jumps out at me as someone who could really help this team in the middle of the order in a year or two. And with the contracts given out there isn't any hope of a big free agent. I don't know, maybe it was just today's dissapointing loss, but I'm not real confident about this organizations long term offense (meaning through 2014).
Even prospects like HRod and Didi don't really project to be star type of players or middle of the order types. |
