Soft J to IR

Tough break for Paul Janish. Looks like he might be out for awhile.

He wasn't back Monday. Instead, he's on the DL with a broken wrist. Ouch.

That really doesn't affect the big club all that much. Not with Willie Harris on the bench.

Could clear the way for DiDi's promotion to Louisville

And Hamilton to AA (though I don't know if I'd do that this early).

Maybe they bring him up for a cup of coffee, while telling him he's going down no matter what in 2 weeks.

Re: Soft J to IR

I feel bad for Janish (btw, just my opinion, but "Soft J" has to be the worst "hood nickname" given to any player, ugh). He was putting together a decent year at Louisville. I've always suspected Janish could have a major league job in the vein of a Darrel Chaney type player). Hopefully he comes back from this and gets to helping Louisville out. Not sure he has a future with the Reds, but I wish him well.

I think it stems from the saying "Soft J, Easy K". Or at least that's what we would all scream from the bleachers every time he K'd last year.

Shortstop Paul Janish is “very close” to returning with Triple-A Louisville. Janish suffered a fractured wrist when he was hit by a pitch on April 28. Janish was hitting .315 in with two home runs in 73 at-bats when he was hurt. He could return in the next couple of days.

Hopefully he can pick back up where he was before he got hurt.

This is a moot point, but what are the mechanics for putting a player on the 60 day DL, but they're in the minors. Does the player need to be activated to the major league roster, then transferred to the big club's 60 DL? I think that's how it works. Of course, if the Reds needed a roster spot, they could easily move Massett to the 60 day DL, but again with Janish coming back, it doesn't really matter.
