Re: 5/28/12 Reds Vs Pirates

I'd rather have Paul Janish on the bench than Valdez.

I know people get tired of the SS-bats-second-dude joke, but, it works because it is true.

Votto flies out to center. 3-0 Pirates mid 3rd.

Terrible.

It's bad enough the Reds insist on carrying no-hit reserve SSs pn the roster, but sticking them in the two-hole when they do play is beyond explanation.

That was just awful.

A little complacency here. Given a winning streak the feeling is "we can play whomever and line 'em up however and still win". Doesn't work like that.

Valdez is the epitome of the ol' Chico Ruiz quote. "Bench me or trade me."

I dunno, I think Cozart and Frazier have potential.

Updated:

Valdez 8-43 (.186)
Harris 3-35 (.086)
Cairo 4-29 (.138)
Costanzo 1-12 (.083)

That's a .134 average in 119 AB's. A simply pitiful bench.

Arroyo continues to get pounded today. Alvarez doubles to right. They can't afford to give up more runs against McDonald
