Re: Does this make anyone else cringe?

Here's why I'm not sad:
1) It would be impossible to pay all of them.
2) We have a player who is as good (and more reliable) as any of them.
3) The team has emphasized pitching and it is really showing. Does anyone want to return to the days of Jimmy Anderson and Claussen?

Do you have the stats for when he was only in Cincy?

More facts. Albert Pujols has 453 HR's. He has hit 44 with a lead of 4 or more runs.

Dunn = 7.8% of HRs came when ahead by 4 runs.
Pujols = 9.7% of HR's came when ahead by 4 runs.

Sorry, that is a pretty meaningless stat.

44 HR when the Reds were down 4 or more.

Nothing ticks me off more than a guy who has the nerve to drive in runs when his team is losing by 4 or more runs.

Hamilton was tough to lose. EE was always a solid player and I'd love to have him back. I absolutely never want to see Dunn in a Reds uniform again.

Re: Does this make anyone else cringe?

Didn't we do the home run or bust thing already. It didn't work out real well as I recall. As far as the Hamilton trade - anybody can look back now, 4-5 years after the fact and say it was a bad trade, but not very many people were complaining when Volquez won 17 games that first year.

As far as Dunn, I felt the Reds didn't get enough for him and EE was everybody's whipping boy - whom we couldn't wait to run out of town.

It's not like the Reds are in the doldrums without these guys.

Dunn is one of the most consistent players of all-time....everyone knows what he'll do from series to series. His career OB% is far better than what most all of the Reds even sniff of getting....but he's been gone a while and this is old news.
Yea, Hamilton was touted like Griffey and arod but then he found out about coke. There was plenty of reason to believe, in that alone, that he wasn't going anywhere fast.
And a big donkey argument is a joke. He is the winner of the Will Ferrel look a like contest however.

Re: Does this make anyone else cringe?

Not at all.

1. Came with a huge package of issues and what type of price tag? Let's be honest no one was sold he would stay sober and clean long enough to pan out.

2. Could hit homers. Can't hit in clutch and was a lousy fielder. Red's are currently a great First to third team. Dunn would not fit this style. I miss him very much but glad he is gone.

3. EE took how long to do this? Rolen is out clubhouse leader. Rolen played huge roll in 2010. I wouldn't trade that for EE.

Which would you rather have the reds do hit home runs or win it all? The choice should be easy. They are in 1st. What more do ya want? Ah, Reds fans, you gotta love them.
