Tuesday 7/31/2012 Minor-League Updates
It was a bullpen day for Louisville, and not an especially good one. With Todd Redmond scratched for some unknown (as yet) reason, Kanekoa Texeira, Travis Webb, Carlos Fisher and Nick Christiani combined to lose to Toledo, 7-3. (Fisher was an innocent party to this.) Former prospect Chris Valaika homered. Neftali Soto had a couple hits, including a double.

Dayton won 5-4. Terry and Waldrop had 3 hits. Juan Silva had 2 hits. Buckley, Diaz, and Juan Perez all had one hit. Terry's HR and doubles by Perez and Waldrop were the Dragons' only extra-base hits. Carlos Gonzalez allowed one run over 1.1 innings. Carlos Contreras pitched 1.2 scoreless innings.

Nick Travieso pitching for Rugrats tonight. Rough first. A single, a HBP and bomb puts the 'Rats down 3-0 after half an inning. He did strike out two.

Jesse Winker had a couple knocks, Seth Mejias-Brean extended his hitting streak, and Billings won 4-3. Jon Moscot started and fanned four in two innings. The last two innings, both scoreless, were handled by Jesus Adames and Sean Lucas, who struck out the side.

The kiddies have come back with a vengeance and lead 10-6 in the sixth. Brent Peterson is 4-4 (2B) and Jose Ortiz is 3-3 (2B). Ortiz is the recently drafted catcher from Puerto Rico, and is off to a very nice start.

Devin Lohman has homered, but Bakersfield trails 5-4 in the sixth. Josh Smith struck out 7 in 4.2 IP, but the rest of his line wasn't so hot.
