Hernandez was tremendous, and I could say as good as Olerud. I still give Olerud the edge. Olerud made everyone believe that Alex Rodriguez could play good defense at Shortstop. In reality, Alex Rodriguez was always a crappy defensive shortstop. A-Rod had this moronic whirlwind throw instead of throwing it on a straight line, causing Olerud to pick way too many of his throws out of the dirt with the ball fading away from him towards homeplate. A-Rod also stabbed at the ball more often than not when just moving his feet would have made the play an easy one, ala Ozzie Smith. Joey Cora also had a wild arm, and Olerud calmed him down, and gave him the confidence to just try to "get it close".
