Goodbye Danny Dorn

Danny Dorn has always been a Redszone favorite, so I thought his release today deserved it's own thread. As a Bats fan, I have many great memories of Dorn, and I honestly thought that he would be a big-leager by now. Even though he was having a bad year, I think he could bounce back, and hopefully another organization will give him more of a chance then the Reds.

Re: Goodbye Danny Dorn

Sure had a good run here for a few years. Here's to hoping he lands in a league with plenty of rightys.

Re: Goodbye Danny Dorn

Somebody claimed they should call him up if Votto went on the DL in the gamethread today.

Whoops.

*raises hand*

I still think he could succeed in the bigs in the right platoon role. I'm going to miss him.

Was Dorn dropped to make space for Beau Mills?

Maybe, but I don't know. Mills went to Pensacola and Joel Guzman was let go.

Re: Goodbye Danny Dorn

Soto and Phipps came off the DL. Daryl Jones and Danny Dorn were let go. I believe that is how that worked out.

Re: Goodbye Danny Dorn

I thought he rotted in AAA, sometimes you need to experience success at the next level.

Re: Goodbye Danny Dorn

The Reds/Bats had to make a difficult decision. Even after cutting Daryl Jones, there were five guys who would probably offer better production at the Major League level (Soto, Costanzo, Rhinehart, Puckett, and Phipps), so there simply wasn't enough room to give Dorn the playing time he deserved.

Re: Goodbye Danny Dorn

It's very disappointing he couldn't have gotten a couple of hundred at-bats at the major league level considering how much Stubbs has struggled along with our Left-field searches.

Minnesota would be a good place for him.
